Artist Bio

Lara Pocock is a Toronto painter specializing in portraits. She trained at the Toronto School of Art and at Walnut Studios.

Eschewing traditional poses, her paintings capture subject(s) in private moments when they are unguarded and natural. Interested in telling their stories in moments both transcendent and mundane, in her commission work she works closely with clients to select an image that brings them joy and creates a lasting monument to their experience.  With touches of bold colour on an earthy palette, faces pop off the canvas.

Also a professional film-maker and writer, Lara is a committee member of the Feminist Art Collective (FAC) and an advocate for women taking up space in the Arts.
